From its modest origins in Minnesota, Saluting Branches has grown into a nationwide movement that celebrates our fallen servicemen and women. Established by Rainbow Treecare, this annual Day of Service has expanded beyond its origins, leaving a profound impact on both the tree care industry and ...participants. Operating as a certified 501(c)(3) organization, guided by a devoted Board of Directors, and driven by industry volunteers, its mission focuses on honoring veterans through volunteer tree and landscape care.
A structured framework includes dedicated committees overseeing various aspects including enrollment, logistics, and communication to ensure smooth coordination of the events. Site leaders embody Saluting Branches' spirit by linking government bodies and industry volunteers, and play a vital role in executing the organization’s vision. The inaugural Day of Service was held in 2015, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and National Cemetery Association, attracting more than 1,000 volunteers across 27 sites.
Despite initial skepticism, Saluting Branches gained momentum, earning praise from the VA for its professionalism and volunteer contributions. Today, nine years later, this Annual Day of Service thrives as an embodiment of support from the tree care and landscaping sectors, fostering safe and beautiful resting places for our servicemen and women.
We hope to see you September 20, 2023, at a veteran’s cemetery near you! For more information and to register, visit salutingbranches.org.
